OLIVE GARDEN WINE INITIATIVES
OUR PHILOSOPHYOlive Garden is focused on delighting guests with a genuine Italian dining experience. In Italy, enjoying wine with a meal is as natural as breathing. Wine enhances a meal’s flavor, creates a comfortable atmosphere at the table and turns a simple meal into an enjoyable, authentic dining experience. Working closely with our wine partners in Italy, we’ve developed a passion for wine and its role in Italian dining. Wine List: Olive Garden’s wine list features 37 selections, 35 of which are available by the glass. This includes 22 Italian wines, 12 from California, three each from Australia and Washington State and one wine from France. To make wine selection more approachable, Olive Garden has recently realigned its wine list by descriptor rather than by varietal. Wines within each category progress from light to full-bodied. Within the restaurant industry, Olive Garden is the world's largest purchaser of wine, selling more than six million bottles last year. Food & Wine Pairing Menu: In addition to its wine list, Olive Garden offers a seasonal menu featuring food and wine pairing recommendations. Complimentary Wine Sampling: Tableside, guests are invited to sample any of Olive Garden’s wines offered by the glass to enhance their dining experience. www.olivegarden.com: Olive Garden’s Web site offers many tools to assist guests with wine selection and education. Olive Garden’s wine list, suggested food and wine pairings, wine terms, tips on how to select a wine, information about wine in Italy and other winemaking and service techniques are all found by going to www.olivegarden.com. Awards: Olive Garden’s wine and beverage program has been recognized nationally, receiving the award for “ America’s Best Casual Dining Wine List” by the Monterey Wine Festival and “Best Overall Beverage Program” by Cheers Magazine. And, The Wall Street Journal has recognized Olive Garden for having the best wine program among the top 10 casual dining restaurants in the country. |
